Pittsburgh on Google!!

Pittsburgh is now featured on Google Transit. This partnership with the Port Authority of Allegheny County allows visitors to search for public transportation routes using interactive Google Maps technology.

Pittsburgh was also one of the first cities to be extensively mapped by Google Street View. Find your way around the city at ground level!

Public Transportation

The Port Authority of Allegheny County has more than 875 buses, 83 light rail vehicles and the Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines to make getting around Pittsburgh quick and easy. Riding Port Authority will save money on car rentals, parking fees, and gas. Our light rail system and three dedicated busways will help you to avoid traffic congestion and alleviate the tension associated with driving in an unfamiliar city. The Port Authority also sponsors the ACCESS program, the nation's largest paratransit program of its kind for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Downtown Pittsburgh

Finding your way around Downtown Pittsburgh is a breeze with the Wayfinder System. A network of over 1,500 color-coded signs divides the city into 5 districts, leading the way to the area's major attractions, libraries, universities, post offices, parks, parking lots/garages and related points of interest.

Taxi service is available by Yellow Cab or Checker Cab dispatcher, or the nearest hotel or Downtown cab stand. Average fare from the airport to Downtown is $35-$45.

The Port of Pittsburgh Commission offers a water taxi service during the summer months, with stops at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the Point area, PNC Park, Heinz Field / Carnegie Science Center, and Station Square.

Sports Facilities

Heinz Field, home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates' PNC Park are both located on the North Shore, across the Allegheny River from Downtown. The Gateway Clipper Fleet offers ferry service from Station Square to the two stadiums. Also, the Roberto Clemente Bridge is open to pedestrian traffic only on Pirates game days to facilitate parking Downtown.

Mellon Arena, the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is located in the heart of Downtown. There is convenient parking in the arena lots, and plenty of overflow parking in any of the nearby parking garages.

Downtown Parking

There are over 20,000 parking spaces in Downtown Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Parking Authority operates nine parking garages in the Downtown area. Most garages are only $5.00 for weekend and special event parking.
